World Cup Tickets: Registration and Application

Registration and Application

Registration

The first step in your quest for tickets is registering your interest. With the launch date rapidly approaching, we encourage our readers to register as soon as possible.

Registering is easy, simply:

  • Visit FIFA.com/tickets
  • Click on Register your Interest.
  • Enter your email address (this will be your FIFA ID).
  • Click on the Send Sign-In Code.
  • Retrieve the code from your email inbox and use it to Sign In.
  • Fill out the registration form and click Submit.
    • Optional but highly recommended: check the boxes to receive updates and news to ensure you get the latest information in your inbox as soon as it becomes available

🔥 Pro Tips:

  • Use an email you check frequently for your FIFA ID, this is where all updates and confirmations will land.
  • Add the following domains to your email client’s trusted domains: fifa.com and fifa.org. This avoids messages from FIFA going into your spam folder.

Applying for Tickets

FIFA just announced the ticketing program is schedule to launch on Wednesday, September 10th 2025.
What does this mean? When launch date is here, Phase 1: The Random Selection Draw is officially open and it is time to start making your ticket requests for matches you’d like to attend.

No need to panic though, as you may have read on our previous article World Cup Tickets: Ticketing System, this is the most relaxed phase of the entire process. The application window will last a few weeks, typically 2-4 weeks; giving you plenty of time to decide, select, modify, and/or cancel your application. You can apply anytime during that period—there’s no advantage to being first in line.

We strongly suggest reading the article before continuing if you haven’t. It contains important relevant information about the ticket products and the random selection draw phase.

UPDATES:

  • 07/31/2025: FIFA and Visa announce The Visa Presale Draw, a new take on FIFA’s ticket sales.
From September 10-19, Visa card holders can apply to the Visa presale draw before general public. If chosen, you will be notified by email starting September 30 and given a dedicated time slot in October to purchase available tickets on a first-come, first–served basis.

Applying for tickets is also a simple process, in general you’ll need to:

  • Visit FIFA.com/tickets
  • Go to the FIFA World Cup 2026 section.
  • Log in to your FIFA ticketing account.
  • Search for ticket products of interest.
  • Select matches, products, and amount of tickets.
  • Add them to your application.
  • Repeat for any other ticket products. You can apply for multiple matches, ticket types, and categories.
  • Submit.

An application summary email will be sent to your FIFA ID email with your selections for your review (see samples below from previous World Cups).

Remember: at this stage, submission of this ticket application to purchase does NOT guarantee tickets will be allocated to you.

After the application window closes, FIFA runs its selection process (this is where the “random” part comes in). Notifications will be sent out to your FIFA ID email with the results and if you are selected, you’ll be instructed to provide payment information.

Ticket Limits

FIFA implements two distinct limits on how many tickets you can purchase: per match, and overall total; designed to ensure fair access for all fans. These limits have historically been different from tournament to tournament, but for the most recent FIFA World Cup in Qatar the implemented ticket limits were:

  • Up to 6 tickets per match per household.
  • Maximum of 60 tickets total across the entire tournament.

The latter is quite important to keep in mind, specially if you max out guest tickets on all matches you apply for. This limit may restrict your access to tickets further down the tournament.

Payment Before or After?

Depends! And it is important to note that the payment process has varied throughout the tournaments, along with some noteworthy implications.

For the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018, payment information was required during the application process. This meant you needed to ensure your card had sufficient funds and was authorized for international transactions before applying. It added a layer of stress, but also meant you didn’t have to scramble to pay later.

In contrast, for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, payment information was provided post ticket allocation. This gives fans more flexibility and time to prepare funds, but also introduced a new risk: missing the payment window and losing your tickets.

Read the fine print for the specific tournament as FIFA outlines the payment rules clearly, be ready for either model, and have your payment method prepared ahead of time.

Visa has been FIFA’s official payment service partner for many World Cups, and this one will be no different. Other payment methods are accepted of course, but with Visa being the official sponsor, they are the safest bet and you can be sure it is always accepted.

🔥 Pro Tips:

  • Don’t rush; take your time to review match schedules, venues, and travel logistics before applying.
  • Add as many guests as you may bring along (up to the maximum allowed).
Any guest(s) name/info will do; these can be modified later in the process should you be a lucky draw.
  • Contact your bank ahead of time and notify them of expected international charges from FIFA (headquartered in Switzerland).
  • Ensure your payment method can cover the total costs of tickets.
  • Don’t procrastinate with payment; FIFA waits for no one.
If you don’t pay in time (usually 7–10 days), your tickets are forfeited and offered to someone else.

Feeling Extra Lucky?

The FIFA World Cup attracts millions of fans, and it is not surprising companies want to capitalize on this. Several sweepstakes can be found from time to time from these companies offering a grand prize for a lucky winner. It usually involves specific matches, like the inaugural and/or final match, with travel packages and luxury benefits.

If Tyche and Fortuna, the Greek and Roman god and goddesses of Luck, are shining bright over you, this lucky winner could be you. Chances are less than slim, but one thing remains true: can’t win unless you try.

Here’s a list of what we have found so far:
